ATL Comic Profile: Big Kenney

Johnson.Kenneth.jpg.jpg
One of the city's true veterans on stage, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more professional comedian in Atlanta's expanding scene, than Kenneth "Big Kenney" Johnson. Aside from working stages across the city and country as a comic, and member of the nation's premier black improv troup, BlackTop Improv, he also teaches a class on the basics of joke writing, called Stand-Up 101. A natural storyteller with easily relatable material and a knack for on the spot observation, Big Kenney is worth seeing every time.

ATLien since: 1997

Comedian since: 1998

A lil' joke: "Moving to Georgia from Chicago, I was surprised at how low the legal limit for DUI is in the state of Georgia. It's like .000000000 half of a point 2. You can get that drunk driving BY the liquor store."
