Mayor Kasim Reed joined Chief George Turner, Maj. Keith Meadows and other APD officers at a press conference this afternoon to announce that three men are officially being charged with the Nov. 22 murder of 39-year-old Charles Boyer, as well as the Grant Park home invasion and rape that took place a few hours later.

The three men — all of whom are being charged with murder, three counts of armed robbery and rape — are currently in custody. For now, APD is releasing only one suspect's identity: 18-year-old Tamario Wise (mug shot pictured), who was arrested on Nov. 27 in connection with the armed robbery of a taxi driver. The other two men's identities are being withheld in case they can be linked to other crimes in the recent spree.

Maj. Meadows said that police didn't discover any link to gangs in the case (although they're not ruling it out). He did, however, describe the suspects — a total of five are in custody for these and other recent crimes — as belonging to a "loose group." According to Meadows, all of the men appear to be from the Amal Heights area.

He described Tamario Wise as a possible "ringleader" who was drawing from a "labor pool" of criminals. Police believe that this so-called "loose group" could be responsible for as many as 20-21 crimes dating back to August.
