Murder suspect Tamario Wise no longer in ATL

Some members of Benteen Park's Google group expressed concern when an online inmate search indicated that Tamario Wise was "released" from Fulton County Jail on Dec. 22. Wise is one of three men being charged in the recent crime spree that included a Grant Park home invasion, a sexual assault and the Nov. 22 murder of Charles Boyer in Virginia-Highland. His is the only name police have revealed thus far.

Here's a screen capture from Fultonsheriff.net that shows Wise's arrest and release dates:

Tracy Flanagan of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department and a Georgia Department of Corrections spokesperson confirmed that Wise was, in fact, released from Fulton County Jail, but that he is in State custody and was relocated to Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, about an hour southeast of Atlanta.

According to the Department of Corrections, a lot of inmates are initially taken to the Diagnostic and Classification Prison when they're removed from county lockup so they can be given medical tests and be placed in "the right facility."

You can't blame Benteen Park residents for being concerned. Since Wise's arrest, it's been revealed that he should have been arrested by Clayton County officials days prior to Boyer's murder for a kidnapping, aggravated assault and car theft that took place at Lexington Square Apartments in Conley (arrest warrants were issued on Nov. 18). Had they found him then, police also would have discovered that he'd violated his parole by removing an monitoring device that was supposed to be secured around his ankle. Clayton County Sheriff Ken Kembrough told GA Daily News, “I'm at a loss to explain why this individual slipped through the cracks. “Every file counts. Every bad guy counts, and I really do wish we had checked some of his locations, hit his home."
