This Friday — Jan. 14 — at 2 p.m., a group of Virginia-Highland residents will meet in the CVS parking lot on N. Highland Avenue, and will take to the streets to distribute fliers and "get the word out" about the suspect in a violent Dec. 26 sexual assault in the neighborhood.
The canvas is being organized by Jinean Robinson, an Old Fourth Ward resident who believes she encountered the suspect just days before he entered a Rosedale Road home and raped a woman who was in the process of moving in. Robinson says she was cleaning her apartment when she sensed something pass by her front door. Upon further investigation, she found a man — one she says fits the description of the Va-Hi rapist — in her bathroom, looking into her shower. He fled when she ran out of her apartment and began screaming for help.
Based on the composite sketch of the Va-Hi rapist, Robinson says she's "extremely confident" he's the same man who entered her apartment.
In recent weeks, several people have reported seeing individuals who fit the suspect's description — a black male in his late 40s with very little hair — but police have said they've yet to capture the actual suspect.
According to a Facebook event page, about a dozen people have RSVP'd to participate in the canvas so far.

Shit, there will be dead or raped people all over the place.
I agree, anything causing attention to the river can't do anything but help.
