Newt Gingrich
>> North Dakota Democratic Senator Kent Conrad announced he won't run for reelection in 2012 for the seat he's had since 1986. Meanwhile Connecticut Democrat-ish Independent Senator Joe Lieberman is also expected to announce he won't run for reelection. Is this what the Mayans predicted when 2012 would be the end of the world? (the Washington Post, Daily Ructions)

>> Newt Gingrich told "Good Morning America" yesterday that Sarah Palin needs to "be more careful and think through what she's saying and how she's saying it." Really, Newt? Really? (Think Progress)

>> NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly says that 673 police officers will be assigned to the World Trade Center when a 9/11 memorial opens on the attack's anniversary this year and the new building after that. Kelly says the area remains a terrorist target, so don't even think about it, terrorists. (the Washington Post)

>> Meanwhile, Iraq's police are in increasing danger. The country's police force were targeted in two suicide bomb attacks in the past two days, the deadliest round of violence in Iraq in the past three months. Who's to protect the police? (the Christian Science Monitor)

>> And finally: Following former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier's unexpected return from exile, police have charged him with embezzlement, corruption and misappropriation of funds. They say everyone likes a good comeback... (the Christian Science Monitor)
