Morning Newsdome: Shockingly, Alabama's new governor doesn't like you unless you're Christian

Robert Bentley
>> Chinese President Hu Jintao joined President Obama and Michelle, the Carters, the Clintons, the heads of Goldman Sachs, Barbra Streisand, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and others at a White House state dinner last night. Hu said, "China still faces many challenges in economic and social development...and a lot still needs to be done in China in terms of human rights." Get out of town! Did he just say, "human rights?" But then he added that for the U.S. and China to build a relationship, we need to practice the "principle of noninterference in each others' internal affairs." Noninterference isn't our style, Hu. (the New York Times)

>> The State Department released a list of gifts received by federal employees from foreign governments in 2009. Saudi Arabia topped the list of most expensive gifts to the president with a $34,000 large marble desert scene with figurines and glass clock. Somehow, Haiti rounded out the top ten with a $4,025 frame portrait of the president. Haiti: always thinking of others. (State Department)

>> Speaking of Haiti: Now that Duvalier is back in Haiti after 25 years of exile, former elected president Jean-Bertrand Aristide also wants to return to the island nation after a 2004 coup forced him into exile in South Africa. Who wouldn't be jealous of returning to an impoverished nation and charged with a handful of easily-prosecuted crimes? (the New York Times)

>> Republicans passed the health-care reform repeal last night in a 245-189 vote almost directly down the party-line. Uh oh, the GOP is sticking to their promise. Luckily, the bill will die in the Senate. Phew, politics at work. (MSNBC)

>> And finally: Alabama's new Republican governor Robert Bentley said in his inaugural address on Monday, "Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I'm telling you, you're not my brother and you're not my sister, and I want to be your brother." That's so funny Bentley, I was just going to tell you I want to be your lover. (Yahoo! News)
