Borders to close five metro Atlanta stores as part of bankruptcy protection

The national bookseller and Missed Connections mecca, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, says it will turn out the lights at about 200 of its 642 stores.

Among them, says the AJC's George Mathis, are five metro Atlanta locations :

* Store #256, 3101 Cobb Parkway in Atlanta.
* Store #298, 1605 East-West Connector Road in Austell.
* Store #360, 1705 Mall of Georgia Blvd. in Buford.
* Store #411, 605 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.
* Store #691, 3630 Peachtree Parkway in Suwanee.

Interesting that the Midtown and Buckhead locations have appeared to survive the cut.
