"The Simpsons" spoofs Pixar, Aardman, Oscars, et al

Ahead of Sunday night's Academy Awards broadcast, last night's "The Simpsons" delivered some spot-on satires of Oscar-worthy animation. The ostensible plot involved Bart's defunct, Homer-spoofing web cartoon "Angry Dad" being repurposed as a film and eventually nominated for an Oscar. "Angry Dad: The Move's" competition included terrific parodies of Pixar's Toy Story and Aardman's "Wallace & Gromit" shorts, in computer and clay-based animation styles, respectively. (Aardman's Nick Park voices himself, and the cartoon Wallace doppleganger even has the trademark yellow skin and bulging eyes of humans in the "Simpsons"-verse.) They start around the 17 minute mark, and offer the episode highlights, although an earlier segment at the Golden Globes includes a similarly loving parody of The Triplets of Belleville.
