F'ed Rep. Bobby Franklin might hate women more than he hates gays

Franklin has introduced legislation that would make getting an abortion — excuse me, "human prenatal murder," as he refers to it — a felony in Georgia. Not a huge shock, considering Franklin's previous unsuccessful attempts at outlawing abortion. What makes this bill unique — uniquely nuts — is that it suggests that women who suffer miscarriages could be prosecuted, too. Well, it says that women who suffer miscarriages wouldn't be prosecuted — but only as long as they can prove they didn't miscarry on purpose. Because that's a thing people can prove, obviously.
Here's an excerpt from the 10-page bill:
'Prenatal murder' means the intentional removal of a fetus from a woman with an intention other than to produce a live birth or to remove a dead fetus; provided, however, that if a physician makes a medically justified effort to save the lives of both the mother and the fetus and the fetus does not survive, such action shall not be prenatal murder. Such term does not include a naturally occurring expulsion of a fetus known medically as a 'spontaneous abortion' and popularly as a 'miscarriage' so long as there is no human involvement whatsoever in the causation of such event.
Franklin doesn't bother defining "human involvement" anywhere in the bill, nor does he establish how exactly the state would determine why and how a woman miscarried (most of the time doctors don't even know why).
He also talks a bunch about the "moment of conception." According to Franklin, this is the mystical split second when a person becomes a person and it becomes the state's responsibility to protect them. How is "moment of conception" determined? Your guess is as good as mine.

Saw this earlier this week, been on medium-simmer angry about it ever since.

Um...wouldn't the "moment of conception" be the moment when sperm hits egg and a zygote is formed? I don't see what's so vague about that part.
@Benjy: Sure, that's likely what he means by the "moment of conception," but will our reproductive organs be equipped with cameras to capture sperm meeting egg? A pregnancy isn't detectable until weeks later. "Moment of conception" is dangerous language, especially if we're talking about women from being held criminally liable for what happens to a zygote from that "moment" on. An aside, the legislation would remove any reference to a "zygote" or "embryo" from GA law -- "fetus" would be the only allowable way to describe the unborn during any stage of development in utero.
Franklin has been in office since 1996. He ran for re-election to the 43rd District seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the July 20 primary and no one filed to run against him in the general election. I've never been as embarrassed or as outraged as I am now; y'all please forgive me for not acting sooner against my mis-representative, and I promise to be more vigorous in my opposition of his misogynistic actions. Oh, Bobby, you have fucked with the wrong people this time.
This man would be laughable, except that he is dangerous because he is in POWER. Very scary.
This dude is a joke. But at least he gives us something to laugh at. This is why christians should not be allowed to hold office. And i dont even like calling this guy a christian. Most christians today are lost on what the bible really says. They simply have no clue what is in that book. Rep. franklin is living proof.
This guy is not just misogynistic, he's incredibly naive. Doesn't he know that if abortion were against the law, we'd be overrun with blacks? I'm no racist, but Planned Parenthood centers were put in minority communities as a service to the rest of humanity. The fact that this legislation was even THOUGHT of scares the living daylights out of me. This fool is definitely on his way out. I just hope that we don't end up with another christian wacko to take his place.

Sadly, christian wackos don't think about the consequences of their actions. They think theyre being all benevolent by being so called "prolife." We're already overpopulated as it is, and PP has helped stem the population growth especially among minority groups. It wouldn't surprise me if he wants to defund PP. I can't believe we live in a world of such haters. Dumb ass haters.
