A daily new round-up of all that’s important from around the world

>> Wisconsin assembly Republicans passed Gov. Scott Walker’s budget bill which includes the anti-union measure at 1 a.m. this morning in a 51 to 17 vote. Only 13 of the assembly’s 38 Democrats managed to vote. The bill still needs to pass the Wisconsin Senate, which hasn’t fully convened since 14 Democrats fled to Illinois. That didn’t stop the Dems present from shouting, “Shame! Shame! Shame!” Would make a great Lil’ Wayne song. (Talking Point Memo, YouTube)

>> Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a Saudi-Arabian college student, plead not guilty today to allegedly planning to bomb George W. Bush’s Texas house as well as other U.S. targets. He wrote in his journal of attacking America, mastered the English language and came to the U.S. on a scholarship. That’s it--lets get rid of scholarships. (Fox News)

>> Government security forces opened gunfire on thousands of protesters leaving a mosque in Tripoli today, Muammar el-Qaddafi’s first crackdown in the capital. Ironically, the government had prepared to open Tripoli for the first time to foreign journalists to show that normal life had returned there. Rumors also come that Qaddafi is dead due to falling oil prices, and one of Qaddafi’s former justice ministers said that “he will do what Hitler did—he will take his own life.” Those political types just can’t stop with the Nazi references. (the New York Times, Reuters, New York Post)

>> Maryland’s Senate passed a bill giving same-sex couples the full marriage rights as heterosexual couples. If the state’s House of Delegates approves the bill (and the Democratic governor already promised to sign it), Maryland would be the sixth state to approve gay marriage. Then and only then would it truly be a Mary land. *Knee slap* (Huffington Post)

>> And finally: Usually only one or two baby bottlenose dolphins wash up dead in the Gulf Coast area this season, but this January and February, there have been 24 baby bottlenose dolphins deaths. The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies said they aren’t sure what’s causing it, but maybe, just maybe, could it be...the BP oil spill? (CNN)
