Can't get to Austin? PepsiCo brings SXSW experience online

Keep the WWW Weird

My Twitter stream is blowing up with incessant updates from unlikely hipster Mecca Austin, TX.

Must be "South by" time.

(Note to the uninitiated, it's actually called "South by Southwest," its written out in shorthand as "SXSW", and when spoken it's just "South by."

Whereas the festival was one known primarily as a music event, then a film festival, there is little doubt that Interactive component (SXSWi) is now one of the biggest draws of the event.

Bonin Bough, Global Digital and Social Media Director for PepsiCo glossed SXSWi a "mecca for digital innovation." In this press release, PepsiCo announces the sponsor's plan for live streaming of SXSWi live content...for those of us not hip enough to be in Austin:

PEPSICO BRINGS BEST OF SXSW TO AUDIENCES OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN VIA FIRST TIME EVER LIVESTREAMING

03.11.2011— AUSTIN, TEX.—PepsiCo, the largest food and beverage company in North America, is creating rich experiences for the digital influencers at South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi) and extending the fete, for the first time, to audiences outside of Austin via exclusive livestreaming of SXSWi keynotes and premier panels as well as curated content from the PepsiCo Plugged-In Stage at the Austin Convention Center.
