Atlanta and What It Has To Offer from Christopher Chambers, one of the finalists for Elevate.
Last month, Courtney Hammond shared with CL some of the ideas and motivation behind Elevate, a public art exhibition being staged in and around the Five Points Marta station. Hammond, who is serving as project coordinator for Elevate aside from her duties as Creative Director of Dashboard Co-Op, is working with an impressive panel of locals to evaluate proposals for the project. Cathy Fox announced the first round of finalists for the project yesterday:

Hammond says this first round of artists will participate in some workshops this week about the project and submit final applications to the panel for a formal review. A final list of participating artists will be released next month. Elevate also recently announced a development committee including Monica Campana of Living Walls, Alana Wolf of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Melanka Joy of Dodekapus, Robert Witherspoon of Public Arts Program, Ayokunle Odeleye of Kennesaw State University, and the artists Iman Person and Johnathan Welsh, who will be assisting in public outreach for the project.
