"I think that it's very important that people understand what is happening here. And it's important that people all over the world see the truth. And that is why I am here ... to understand the truth," former Rep. Cynthia McKinney said during a live interview. She said she was invited to Libya by the "nongovernmental organization for fact-finding," adding that she intends to bring more people to the country soon so that "they too can understand." [...]
At one point during the interview, state TV cut to what it said were live airstrikes, hitting Gadhafi's compound.
"Is that a bomb?" McKinney asked.
It's not the first time McKinney ventured into harm's way. You'll recall that in 2008, the former congresswoman was aboard a boat carrying medical supplies to Gaza that was, according to passengers, rammed by the Israeli Navy.

There's no denying she's a little crazy. "Much ado about a hairdo..."
I miss her too, Dave--even voted for her a few times.
While I'll admit she doesn't represent the majority or anything close to the majority opinion it is unfortunate that voices like her are kept out of the political process by our two party system that assures only those basically promoting the status quo survive.
Well ok Kucinich and Sanders have survived, bless their hearts, but they are white males.
"Cynthia McKinney
International Conference on Global Alliance Against Terrorism for a Just Peace
Tehran, Iran
15 May 2011
How wonderful to be at a Conference where the word "love" is used; we are here because we love humankind. We are here from all corners of the earth; we are against terrorism; we want peace.
However, we must clarify peace. What kind of peace do we want?
President John F. Kennedy answered his question by saying: ". . . not a Pax Americana" imposed on the world by weapons of war. He went on to say that the kind of peace we want is the kind of peace that makes life worth living--peace for all men and women for all time.
No Justice, No Peace. No Truth, No Justice!
But, today, U.S. policy is rooted in lies, injustice, and war. And at home, the people of the U.S. suffer. Racism is acute, despite and maybe because of President Obama; hatred is rampant with hatred of Muslims, incarceration of Palestinians, targeting of immigrants, the lynchings of Blacks, disappearances of Latinos, and the pauperization of the people. People inside the U.S. are under attack in the realm of policy: "
It'd be interesting to hear the ex-Congress*woman*'s response to this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-135…
I don't miss her because I voted for her. I was represented by her for a while and it was painful.
I want her back so she can once again function as the face of the Democrat party for all the world to see. I want her back so we have a voice in congress to put forth the point of view expressed by notyouagain. How have we survived a congress with no member willing to travel to a peace conference in Iran?
I miss her dad, too. It's been too long since a GA legislator pulled a knife on somebody.
A leader has fallen and my heart is broken. McKinney went from being a champion of progressivism to being a traitor to her own country. We can only hope that she will come to her senses one day.
"I want her back so she can once again function as the face of the Democrat party for all the world to see."
so you're basically copping to the fact that mckinney's nuttiness has left the democrats without a suitable crazy ambassador,
whereas the GOP has a brimming stable of Bachmanns, Pauls, Gingriches, and Pawlenteys?
2012 is going to be awesome
They've got a few but Cynthia was the ultimate.
Biden supplies the comedy but without the turncoat baggage.
How is Pawlenty nutty? I'll give you the other three.
have you seen his michael bay-ish youtube vids? they're a bit more conceptual than most folks are willing to grapple with but they're so slick and vacuous while promising honest talk
pawlenty apparently spends the bulk of his campaign funds on a really good video team which is going to yield dividends once the youtube hivemind start remixing his vids to be about whatever
There are other awesome examples, but as a southerner & having gone to college in MN this is my favorite:
http://prospect.org/csnc/blogs/tapped_arch…
from a video/cinematography standpoint t-palsy is so awesome
here's one of his legit vids, so dramatic and foreboding:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfkNEq1XioE
and a half-assed Independence Day remix:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go16aTnNGP8
this is a strategy which is designed to fail among young, internet-savvy adults - kind of a bad idea if you want to get elected as president
Look up Hillary talkin' country. Now THAT'S a hoot.
1st vid - I havn't laughed so much since Flea pledged to have Obama's baby.
2nd vid - seen it. Hey you use the best footage you can get and this is some great footage.
They don't make good political videos any more, right or left.
But the difference, Dave, is Hillary was actually a political figure in a southern state & lived there & stuff. Regardless of her midwestern upbringing.
Pawlenty is sorta batshit. Not Bachmann batshit, but this kind:
http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/04/ti…
HILARIOUS!
pawlenty is the kind of milquetoast boring midwestern whitey who has to say the most insane shit just to get noticed. he doesn't have the natural crazitas of a palin or gingrich, but he just wants so much for people to talk about him!
such as bitching about fiat money on fox just to steal a little of ron paul's thunder
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/…
when you're trying to bite constituency from a paul, you know that you're fatally ignorable
Hillary is from Chicago and has never had a southern accent. Until she needs it. It's ridiculous when any politician does it.
Which is worse? The teacher in your government indoctrination center collecting all personal items on the first day of school, crayons, paste, scissors, all communal, and all doled out as needed? Or an order to stop that? The article is short on details but that collection of personal stuff has always galled me. Creeping socialism is the least of the problem. It's just not fair.
It is sad in an election where they could just walk in, the Repubs have the weakest field in a long time. I wouldn't get too comfortable, yet, though.

what the fuck, dave
if you're going to make shit up to rail against the dangerous bolshevist plot against our precious fluids, could you at least leave five year olds out of it?
i mean really is there no part of society where you don't see creeping socialism as a threat? what is your opinion on light bulbs or toilet flow, you paranoid redneck?
I'm not making shit up. That's what they do. When you have kids, you'll find out. I'll never forget how pissed I was when I found out that the cute little box of school supplies we sent with our eager eyed tyke was confiscated on the first day by the teacher and was put into a common lot.
I'm for stopping that. That's absurd.
God forbid your little shitass kid shared his things. Dave you are treading on the super vilian again. It sounds like the exercise was supposed to be about sharing. Judging by your reaction to the exercise it is obviously something he/she is not learning at home.
we can all agree that socialists are actively plotting to contaminate our precious bodily fluids through flouridation, right?
Doesn't Obamacare also require proof of drinking unfiltered tap water daily at the "Doctor" recommended doses before being able to get Dental Care?
I gotta admit though if my kid had to share their stuff i'd want to know before hand so that I didn't buy them the Dolce & Gabana Pen and Pencil box.
Dave it is not creeping socailism in the little ones pool things. It is because they are kids and none of them has a job so it is not their fault if they have crappy paretns that do not buy them things they need for school. Little kids also need to learn to share and work together. Keep the good crayons at home like I do for writing bomb threats.
Jeez did I say it was socialism? I just said I didn't like it and you throw Dr. Strangelove at me, which is fine, one of my top ten. "I wish we had one of them Doomsday Machines." Believe me, my kids learned all the important stuff at home because who knows what they'll teach them at school. IMHO there's a difference between sharing things and The Man taking everybody's stuff.
If it was an exercise, they'd give it back. It's a policy. My advice is to pull out prior to the moment of no return until you can afford private school.
"I'm not making shit up. That's what they do. When you have kids, you'll find out. I'll never forget how pissed I was when I found out that the cute little box of school supplies we sent with our eager eyed tyke was confiscated on the first day by the teacher and was put into a common lot."
sounds like a failure of personal responsibility. you didn't read the exceedingly simple school supply policy doubtlessly published by your elementary school. i fear for your children.
"Jeez did I say it was socialism?"
yeah, you did. damn dude, are you that unaware of your own words
There was nothing to read. They don't tell you about it. Have some kids and send 'em to public school. Don't fear for my kids. One got into Stanford and the other could if he didn't want to be a DJ.
"Creeping socialism is the least of the problem. It's just not fair." I guess that's calling it socialism. Here, I'll go all in and tie it back in to the story. If you send your kid to public school, be ready to have a two bit socialist Cynthia McKinney Wanna-be confiscate her pencil box. So don't buy the expensive one.
@MRA:
Really? We fall out of the womb knowing to share? Is speech also in there? How about math skills?
Back to Pawlenty. I don't know how I feel about this guy, yet, but one thing's sure, dude has major sack.
First he goes to Iowa and says ethanol subsidies must stop. Now he's gone to Florida and said Social Security and Medicare must be reformed.
Doesn't he have consultants? Chalk up a couple of points for him.
He's courting the Tea Party, Dave. It requires no sack whatsoever. Just say a buncha words about self- reliance, blah blah, don't tread on me, blah blah, obamacare, blah blah, socialism & you got the golden ticket!
I find this a fascinating news story though:
http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/20…
Need to get out my popcorn. Organic, natch.
You say it takes no chutzpah to go to Iowa and say something against corn subsidies? I'll have what you're having.
Yeah the Tea Party folk don't like Romney. Here's a wet panty scenario for you. Romney wins the nomination and the Tea Party puts up Bachmann or worse as a 3rd party choice. Jeebus I just scared myself.
"You say it takes no chutzpah to go to Iowa and say something against corn subsidies? I'll have what you're having."
ethanol subsidies aren't corn subsidies. food prices are rising globally, corn itself is spiking
http://www.mongabay.com/images/commodities…
in fact, the teabagger platform is that ethanol subsidies would be a 'distortion' on the free market and a bailout to weak government hippie fuel
"If you send your kid to public school, be ready to have a two bit socialist Cynthia McKinney Wanna-be confiscate her pencil box. So don't buy the expensive one."
seriously every elementary school publishes what kids need to bring to class and if there are any sharing policies. you clearly failed in your duty to read and comprehend a very simple one page sheet written by a kindergarten teacher
like most idiot teabaggers, you're blaming society and government for what is essentially a failure of personal responsibility. you're a hypocrite
Ethanol subsidies are corn subsidies. The other ethanol pilot projects using switchgrass and whatnot have mostly faltered.
Ethanol is a giant boondoggle. And it's bad for engines, tortillas for the poor, etc.
ethanol subsidies are not corn subsidies. they are ethanol subsidies. they increase corn prices by stimulating demand, yes, but it is a tenuous and indirect subsidy at best.
i do agree that they're bad, though. ethanol research should be conducted by public entities, rather than trying to stimulate an ethanol industry. the free market is correct in this instance
I'm just glad that agriculture subsidies bring me so much cheap soda and disgusting, HFCS-filled candy that tastes like absolute caca compared to candy produced anywhere else in the world.
"Your body can't tell the difference." NO, BUT MY MOUTH CAN, SHIT-WIT!"
"wait, this happened twenty years ago? and you're still mad about it? christ, dave"
Fuckin' LOL.
