Not Necessarily the News: Fake Wood Wallpaper's Ingenious Viral Crowd Funding Campaign

Georgia based Fake Wood Wallpaper Films, the team behind the indie cult film Blood Car are at it again.

As they ramp up pre-production on their next feature project Congratulations!, Mike Brune stars in a number of fake news reports, all in the service of soliciting a cash donation for the film. (Let's face it, this beats the crap out of most tired ass Kickstarter campaigns.)

Viral Fundraising Video No. 1 - Missing from mike brune on Vimeo.

Brune's over-modulated newsman voice is spot on. The technical gaffes and decidedly DIY aesthetic add to the campaign's anarchic feel. I especially enjoy the Python-esque sensibility most notably the ridiculous micro-faux-nes.

I also like their official pitch.

Make an investment in the arts. Donate at congratsmovie.com

All contributions are 100% tax deductible thanks to Fractured Atlas.

We won't stop making videos until you've donated.

Elsewhere, they write: "If you would like to donate more than $50,000, send us an email at congratsmovie@gmail.com with the phrase “I am Mr. Money-bags” in the subject line."

If the fundraising campaign doesn't inspire the confidence that your money will be well spent, maybe this will.
