7 Stages, Serenbe Playhouse announce new seasons

Little Five Point's 7 Stages has announced its 2011-2012 season, while Palmetto, Ga.'s Serenbe Playhouse has unveiled its summer line-up.

7 Stages’ new season begins in September with All Blues, playwright Robert Earl Price’s account of a white journalist’s observations while disguised as a black man. The season includes Ted Catellanos' Fat Boy (November), a commentary on hunger and commercialism; the return of the wicked holiday show A Krampus Christmas; Pamela Turner’s play Hidden Man (March), inspired by artists Robert Sherer and Reverend Howard Finster; and the Little Five Points Rockstar Orchestra’s musical Dracula in April.

Serenbe Playhouse's second season of open-air summer productions begins with Adawm Gwon's musical love letter to New York, Ordinary Days (June 2-25). From July 2-Aug. 28, the company presents the world premiere of an original musical adaptation of The Ugly Duckling, with a set built out into a lake to allow dancers and actors to perform in and out of water. Finally, the company presents Pulitzer-winning playwright Donald Margulies' Shipwrecked! An Entertainment- The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as Told by Himself), starring Mark Kincaid, Minka Wiltz and Will Shuler, running Aug. 4-27.
