Synchronicity Theatre announces 2011-2012 season

Three Bold Voices productions anchor the female-oriented theater’s new line-up.

Atlanta’s female-oriented Synchronicity Theatre teams up with the likes of Sarah Ruhl, Megan Gogerty and Cindy Lou Johnson for it’s 2011-2012 season. The line-up includes a remount of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever as well as the family musical Petite Rouge (a zydeco-retelling of Little Red Riding Hood) in addition to the company’s three “Bold Voices” productions.

In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play (Sep. 29-Oct. 30) This regional premiere from the author of such popular plays as The Clean House harks back to America in the 1880s for a light-hearted exploration of a doctor’s invention to alleviate “female hysteria.”

Feet First in the Water With a Baby in My Teeth (Dec. 2-19) Playwright/performer Megan Gogerty returns with another one-woman show, a joint world premiere with Riverside Theatre, Iowa City, Iowa. For a sequel of sorts to Hillary Clinton Got Me Pregnant, Gogerty looks at the challenges of juggling feminism, career and being a new mother. (For a clip from Hillary Clinton, see below).

Brilliant Traces (March 1-25) Cindy Lou Johnson pens a mysterious set in a remote Alaska cabin, where a hermit encounters a woman in a bridal dress.
