Our condolences to the family of Maria Gomes Valentim, who passed away in Brazil on Tuesday at the age of 114, but her
untimely death means a certain Monroe, Ga. resident has something to celebrate!
At 114 years and 230 days old, Besse Cooper is now the oldest person in the whole wide world according to Guinness World Records.
Apparently, the oldest person to ever live was a French lady named Jeanne Louise Calment who made it to 122. But, c'maaan, 114's nothing to sneeze at. Seriously, don't sneeze at her — the elderly have weakened immune systems.
Congrats, Besse. After the jump, other things that'll turn "The Big 1-1-5" this year!
