UPDATE — Where's the Eagle Raid investigation?

UPDATE: Attorney Dan Grossman confirmed that he has not received the city's investigation, nor has he received the Atlanta Police Department's Office of Professional Standards' investigation (both were due yesterday).

While lawyers with Greenberg Traurig — the outside firm hired by Mayor Reed to perform the city's investigation — have been responsive, Grossman says the APD hasn't made him aware of their investigation's status.

Yesterday was the day the City of Atlanta was supposed to have completed its court-mandated investigations into the APD's 2009 raid of the Atlanta Eagle.

When we spoke with attorney Dan Grossman — who represented the bar's patrons and owners in a lawsuit against the city — at around noon yesterday, he hadn't yet received a copy. And it remains unclear whether he has today.

Grossman told the GA Voice earlier, “While I have not read the report, they have kept in close communication with me and at this point I am satisfied with their diligence and their approach to the investigation.”

Both Grossman and Mayor Kasim Reed should have received copies yesterday. Reed spokesman Reese McCranie did not respond to CL's inquiries about whether the Mayor had seen the investigation yet.

On Sept. 10, 2009, members of the APD's Red Dog unit swept into the Atlanta Eagle and forced its patrons to lay facedown on the floor for an excessive period of time while they checked everyone's IDs, despite a lack of ostensible criminal activity. The city settled with the victims for just over $1 million, and were required by the presiding judge to perform an investigation into the matter. After months of presumed inactivity, the city farmed out the investigation to the outside law firm Greenberg Traurig.

The investigation was originally due on June 6, but the judge granted an extension.
