Georgia Writers Association is giving out money

The Georgia Writers Association is in an interesting bind: extra money.

To be specific, it's got some dollars to burn from its Literary Event Grants of Georgia fund. According to GWA, the funds must be totally tapped by Aug. 1. So if you have an event, reading or workshop coming up in the next few weeks, or if you're planning to set up an event, you might be eligible for a grant ranging from $50-$250.

We say "might" because there are conditions: Grants are for nonprofit organizations, and the funding is for literary events in Georgia counties, excluding Fulton, Cobb, and DeKalb. Grant awards are for writers’ fees only. And the writer must be listed in the Georgia Writers' Registry or otherwise apply for inclusion through the Literary Center.

LEGG works in cooperation with the Atlanta History Center and the Margaret Mitchell House to "support for quality literary arts events throughout the state, and especially in underserved communities."
