>> European finance ministers signed off on $17 billion in loan money for Greece this weekend to keep the country from defaulting—that is before they run out of money again in September. A financial crisis sure makes a country need a pal. Enter Greece's new friend Israel. The Jewish state has offered generous military assistance after last year's flotilla incident killed nine Turkish citizens and severed ties between the states. Step off Israel. Offering military aid is the U.S.'s friendship role. (AP, Christian Science Monitor)

>> Muammar Qaddafi's eldest son Saif al-Islam recently claimed that NATO is in secret negotiations to end the Libyan civil war in exchange for dropping international arrest warrants issued against them. Meanwhile, Russia has stepped up its efforts to negotiate a resolution in Libya. So the real question is, who do you distrust least: Saif al-Islam or Russia? (the Guardian, Sydney Morning Herald)

>> Thailand elected its first female prime minister, Yingluck Shinawatra. The country rejected the military-backed government that has led since a 2006 coup against Yingluck's brother. In strange trivia: Yingluck went to Kentucky State University. Odd to come all the way to America to study in Kentucky, right? (Forbes)

>> Japan's disaster reconstruction minister stepped down from his position only a week after assuming it when he was caught bullying a politician and journalists on tape. It's another blow for Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan, whose approval rating plunged below 20 percent. YouTube: Keeping politicians honest since 2005. (Sydney Morning Herald)

>> And finally: Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has returned from cancer treatment in Cuba just in time to celebrate Venezuela's Independence Day. Will Venezuela ever celebrate independence from Chavez? Err probably not. (Reuters)
