When it comes down to it, working with emerging, local artists can mean long hours of hard work, begging for just enough resources and space to get by, epic feats of organizational multi-tasking, and little-to-nothing in the way of financial reward. So, what keeps Atlanta's young arts advocates chugging coffee and burning the midnight oil to keep their organizations running? You can hear that answer from a spread of Atlanta's arts upstarts at Whitespace on Thursday. The presentation and dinner, titled plainly "Why Do We Give A Sh!t?," will include presentations from Atlanta Soul Project, Couch Couch, The Creatives Project, Dashboard Co-op, Dodekapus, Esoteric Lore, Living Walls, and Young, Foxy & Free. All procedes will benefit Living Walls, funding travel expenses and supplies to bring national and international street artists to Atlanta in August.

"Why Do We Give A Sh!t?" A Fundraiser For Living Walls happens at Whitespace Gallery, 814 Edgewood Avenue, on Thurs., July 14 at 8 pm. $40 admission, including dinner and drinks. More details at Facebook.
