Wrestling has always been big in Georgia. But with Atlanta hosting events like WrestleMania last April and the National Wrestling Alliance Legends Fanfest Weekend next week, this form of athletic theater has never been bigger. But just because the personas and in-ring action are larger-than-life doesn't mean little people can't be part of the spectacle. This weekend, Atlanta Midget Wrestling returns to the Gateway Event Center in McDonough on Friday and the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross on Saturday.

Featuring the stars of the Micro Wrestling Federation, home to such talents as "The World's Biggest Midget" Meatball, Mini Manson (a pint-sized tribute to Marilyn) and the 4'3" blonde bombshell known as Trixie Dynamite, Atlanta Midget Wrestling offers two nights of under-the-bottom-rope violence that is likely to take place in and out of the ring. If this all sounds like it's in bad taste, it probably is. But these smaller-framed competitors are just as serious about putting on an entertaining wrestling show as their oversized counterparts.

In addition to the in-ring theatrics, local hard rock quartet Eleven Standing Still will be performing before and after both shows. Despite the band's size advantage and amplified rock sound, however, don't expect the MWF competitors to be outdone by a few regular-sized guys.
