Andisheh, Atlanta’s ‘Americapedia’ author, attends Attic

Our own Andisheh Nouraee signs copies of his new book at Eddie’s Attic on Saturday.

Image If you’ve been missing Andisheh Nouraee’s Creative Loafing column “Don’t Panic!” — one of those geopolitical humor columns so trendy in the last decade, like “Freedom Fries” and Lord of the Rings movies — you’re in luck. Andisheh renews his credentials as a witty yet sincere political comentator with Americapedia, his new book co-written with Jodi Lynn Anderson and Dnaiel Ehrenhaft. More educational and practical than a comparable volume like “The Daily Show’s” America: The Book, Americapedia takes a lighthearted look at America’s political system and the most urgent political issues of our time, making them accessible for teenagers. As the web site explains: “Smart like a textbook, funny like (insert name of thing you think is very funny) Americapedia doesn’t just explain your country and your world, it gives you the tools you need to start fixing it. Think of it as your Swiss Army Knife on the camping trip of good citizenship.”

Items like “Common Generalizations About People Who Have Opinons on Abortions” certainly sound like Andisheh:
Pro-Choice: Doesn’t care about babies; Immoral; Loves wearing Birkenstocks
Pro-Life: Doesn’t care about women; Religious fanatic; Loves wearing rosaries

Via the blog on the front page of the Americapedia web site you can catch up with Andisheh’s thoughts on the late debt ceiling debacle and other news of the day. Andisheh will talk about and sign copies of Americapedia at 4 p.m. Aug. 6 at Eddie’s Attic.
