Newsdome: Qaddafi's defeat in Libya grows near

Muammar Qaddafi
>> Now that his regime is crumbling after a six-month stalemate and international governments are offering help to a "new Libya," Muammar Qaddafi claimed he left Tripoli in a radio address today. But authorities report that he made a phone call from his new location to the Russian World Chess Federation boss. Why? Check out this video of the two friends "playing" chess during NATO's bombing campaign. Qaddafi: "You sunk my battleship!" (Christian Science Monitor, BBC, AP on YouTube)

>> North Korean leader Kim Jong Il met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev today where Kim Jong Il agreed to temporarily suspend testing of weapons of mass-destriction to resume the six-party nuclear talks. Russia and North Korea meeting in a secret East Siberia military facility? Sounds legit. (Times of India)

>> The 5.8 earthquake on Tuesday that struck Mineral, Virginia, sent shock-waves from Georgia to New England and cracked the top of the 127-year-old Washington Monument, the world's tallest obelisk. The MLK monument better be okay. (CBS, ABC)

>> Republican presidential hopeful and man of the people Mitt Romney needs more elbow room. That's why he's going to knock down his 3,000 square foot house in California, worth around $12 million, to build something four times larger. Romney feels our pain. So where do the other candidates live? (the Washington Post, NY Mag)

>> And finally: The DEA has announced that three-quarters of cocaine in the U.S. is cut with veterinary de-workworming chemical levamisole that can sometimes fatally lower a person's white blood cell count. Don't blow away your immune system! (Scientific American)
