Elevate: Art Above Underground, an ambitious, two-month-long public arts exhibition centered around Upper Alabama and Peachtree Street downtown, kicks off tomorrow night, Fri., Aug. 26 at 5 pm. The project, backed by the city's Office of Cultural Affairs, was spearheaded by Dashboard Co-Op co-founder Courtney Hammond months ago with the intention of bringing cultural relevance to the barren landscape surrounding Five Points Marta startion in the heart of downtown.

With the help of the city and a sharp development committee, Hammond has brought in a bevy of artists (an impressively diverse and perceptive curation for a city project, we might add) and collaborations with WonderRoot, Living Walls, and other local arts organizations.

Work by Southern Sunday Art Revival, Sam3, Deanna Sirlin, Ola Bad, Christopher Chambers, Alice Lovelace, and others will be lit up all evening long. Music and performances will kick off around 6 pm, with a headlining set from sonic cosmonaut funk ensemble, Noot d' Noot, at 9 pm. More details are available from Elevate.
