Occupy Wall Street, Atlanta-style

Posted by Thomas Wheatley on Wed, Sep 28, 2011 at 9:50 AM

Georgians looking to show solidarity with protesters on Wall Street are planning to assemble tonight at Brownwood Park in East Atlanta:

Here's the Facebook group, which includes a link to the event page. We've sent a message to the person who maintains the OWSAtlanta Twitter account and will update if we hear back.

UPDATE, 1:25 p.m. One of the "general assembly" organizers writes to CL:

We the Atlanta community, the 99%, are currently organizing in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street to take action against the greed and corruption of the 1%. We have adopted the General Assembly model making each decision everyone’s decision to remain unified. Anyone coming to #occupyAtlanta #GeneralAssemblyATL meeting Please read these guidelines on group dynamics in people’s assemblies:
Stay updated on twitter and http://occupyAtlanta.org

UPDATE, 2:44 p.m. I've updated this post to clarify that tonight is apparently only a "general assembly," not a rally. View the link in the organizer's comment above for general assembly guidelines.

This is, as stated, a "General Assembly" meeting, not a rally.

Like others have stated, it's just a general assembly, not a rally! We are in the process of organizing. Anyone who wants to be involved should attend the assemblies :) All are welcome!

It's time for a more aggressive stance, shindiga are not the
Answer. Hitting the street and commanding attention is.

I am one of the 99%! We need to fight for better education, better pay, and for the members of congress to actually represent the people. I am down for the cause, and will spread the word to everyone I know.

Here is a song that I thought OWS everywhere might find appropriate for their "Theme Song" ... Just not sure how to get this message to them...This song's lyrics are amazingly familiar... Are the words Prophetic? Anyway Great "Occupy Wall Street" song if I ever heard one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk0b…
