  • No, Beaker hasn't been hitting the weights. That's former WWE Champion Sheamus.
When WWE announced that its flagship Monday night show Raw would be returning to Philips Arena on Oct. 31, the costumed athletic pageantry seemed like a good enough fit for Halloween, especially in a town steeped in wrestling history. But when it was later revealed that the show's hosts would be the Muppets, who also have a strong local presence as part of the Center for Puppetry Arts' extensive Jim Henson collection, it just made for an even wackier collision of pop cultural icons.

While it might seem like an odd match-up (though Hulk Hogan did make a cameo in 1999's Muppets from Space), the variety show-like pairing possibilities between the WWE roster and the cast of The Muppet Show are seemingly limitless. From the Miz meeting Kermit the Frog and Vickie Guerrero encountering Miss Piggy to the curmudgeonly Statler and Waldorf joining Jerry "The King" Lawler and Michael Cole on commentary, it's kind of surprising that someone hasn't already thought of putting these two entities together.

"You're on the ball, fella," says "The Great White" Sheamus, an Irish-born superstar whose pasty white skin and fiery red hair are already somewhat Muppet-like. "I actually forgot that the Miz looks like Kermit. Kermit's better looking, though. Miss Piggy and Vickie is a great one, too. I don't know who Animal would be with. Maybe John Cena. But I definitely hope me and Beaker run into each other during the show. Maybe Sheamus and Beaker can tag team together. Who knows? With some of the Muppets and WWE superstars, it could be super chaos in the form of entertainment."

One thing that will be certain this Monday is that while most people are going to (as the satirical theme song to The Muppet Show proclaims), "put on makeup" and "dress up right" for Halloween, WWE fans will get to see their favorite stars lace up their boots to take on opponents like none they've ever faced before.
