Newsdome: Mississippi voters aren't completely stupid after all

Posted By on Wed, Nov 9, 2011 at 11:20 AM

Arrivederci Silvio?
>> Mississippi voters rejected Initiative 26 (the "personhood" initiative) that would have added a state amendment defining life "from the moment of fertilization," effectively outlawing abortions. Ohio voters repealed a bill that curbed unions' rights to collectively bargain passed in March. And Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce, the author of the state's strict immigration law, lost the recall election. And the pendulum swings a tiny bit to the left. (the New York Times, Fox News)

>> In the week since Syria has agreed to halt violence against anti-goverment demonstrators, authorities have killed more than 110 people. The U.N. calculates at least 3,500 people have been killed since Syria's eight-month crackdown. Today, demonstrators threw eggs at the opposition delegate, calling him a "traitor" for agreeing to talks with the government. Hey, that was a nice suit. (Voice of America)

>> Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is expected to resign this month because of ... corruption charges? Because of a countless list of sexual harassment accusations? Because of being a chauvinistic pig? No, because the Euro Zone demands austerity measures. Whatever it takes to take this creep out. (Reuters)

>> Three senior Air Force officials have been disciplined in the "gross mismanagement" of human remains from U.S. soldiers killed at war. Gross. (the New York Times)

>> And finally: Herman Cain's campaign manager Mark Block said he's finally realized who's leaking sexual harassment stories about the presidential hopeful. After first blaming Rick Perry, Block now says it's Politico writer Josh Kraushaar, who he alleges is the son of one of the accusers. Except Kraushaar does not work at Politico anymore and is not related to the accuser. So glad this political campaigner really cares about getting facts straight. (Politico)
