For students, a dance recital is a nerve-wracking combination of performance and exam, but for us it's an enjoyable and inexpensive way to watch some great work by the city's coolest choreographers. Many of the most distinguished artists in town sit on the faculties of college dance programs, and they often give intriguing new work its world premiere on their students. The shape of a typical academic semester means that dance recitals at Atlanta's college programs occur right around the same time of year: the weekend before Thanksgiving for fall semester. So this week by hopping from campus to campus you could check out Atlanta's student talent perform classic pieces and world premieres by established and emerging choreographers including Kyle Abraham, Lauri Stallings, Blake Beckham, T Lang and more... all for just a few bucks. Beat that, Scoutmob.
