A loss for the community but should not be unexpected. High prices and an unfriendly staff who think "they are too cool for school" attitude
To steal a line from the AJC message board when it was announced Filene's basement and Syms were closing ......
I blame Obama ;-)
I stopped going there years ago... Outwrite is proclaimed to represent the gay community, but honestly, I think it's far from that.
I agree with Saxguy and Right46.zfront, I stopped going years ago due to their arrogant behavior. Prices were too high to want to deal with that attitude, plus they would make you"pay rent" to sit and wait for a friend to stop by, even if you've spent hundreds there (if not more) over a 10 year period... obnoxious. I could and did go to B&N or Borders (before its demise) and sit, read and wait for friend to show up before buying coffee or whatever. The good staff left years ago (with a bitter taste - you can see them visibly cringe when the OW is mentioned).
