Barack Obama
>> President Obama met with Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard today to announce plans to expand American military presence down under. The U.S. will use existing Australian facilities to counterbalance China's rising power. When will Australia get military bases here to counterbalance Canada? (the New York Times)

>> Interim PM Mario Monti formed Italy's new government today without a single politician: bankers, diplomats and business executives make up the country's new cabinet ministers to be sworn in later today. Will Monti implement the 9-9-9 plan? (USA Today)

>> Afghan President Hamid Karzai told tribal elders that a security pact with the U.S. was in everyone's best interest. The Taliban threatened to target anyone who attended the meeting, and a suicide bomber was shot dead in an attempted attack. Wonder how much we had to pay Karzai to say that? (BBC News)

>> Oakland Mayor Jean Quan admitted that she was on "a conference call with 18 cities across the country who had the same situation"--that being Occupy protests. Were the recent crackdowns in Oakland, San Francisco, Denver and New York all coordinated? Quan's legal adviser Dan Siegel resigned, tweeting "Support Occupy Oakland, not the 1% and its government facilitators." Take to Twitter, it'll make you feel all better. (Capitoilette)

>> And finally: The Secret Service found two bullets outside the White House yesterday: one that shattered a window and another one outside. It could have been from gunfire half a mile away on Friday, but it took the Secret Service four days to find the bullets. We're all going to die. (the New York Times)
