Posted by Bobby Feingold on Tue, Nov 22, 2011 at 11:20 AM

>> Egyptian Cabinet members have offered to resign after protests against the current military rule continued for a fifth day in Tahir Square. Leave it to the American exchange students to throw firebombs. (Business Week, CBS News)

>> Two officers who pepper sprayed peaceful Occupy protesters at the University of California, Davis, have been placed on administrative leave, but the shocking video has already made rounds on the Internet. The police freely sprayed the demonstrators who were calmly sitting on the sidewalk with linked arms. I smell a meme. (the NY Times)

>> Fourteen-year-old Brandon McInerney of Ventura County, Calif., has "agreed to spend the next 21 years in prison" for fatally shooting a gay middle-school classmate. McInerney will be behind bars until he is 38. I'm so glad he was so agreeable. (LA Times)

>> Bonuses for bankers will be down from the average of $128,530 as the financial industry lost 200,000 jobs this past year. Financial jobs for people ages 20 to 34 have fallen by 25 percent since 2008, though jobs for employees over 55 have only fallen by 11 percent. That is so sad. Not. (DealBook)

>> And finally, things that happened in South Korea today: An opposition lawmaker doused his rivals in tear gas as ruling party lawmakers forced their way on the National Assembly floor. At least their Congress gets stuff done. (AP)

Why suspend the officers? There were people protesting, arms locked which is classified as passive resistance. They were ordered to move and they disobeyed that order. Would you rather the cops use physical force? Pepper spray is temporary leaves no lasting effects....jesus what a bunch of pussies!!!!!

Why suspend indeed?

"jesus what a bunch of pussies!!!!!"

i agree, those cops should have earned their pay and disentangled the protesters with force. they took the easy way out

but of course because they're lazy overweight government workers one would probably throw his back out and then the public would have to foot the bill for his injuries
