ATLwood: They're just outside our windows, they're snatchin' our ping pong paddles

The celebs have started uncovering some of the hipper joints in town as a dizzying number of productions continue filming. But first, of course, the sightings:

Ben Stiller was snapped hanging out at Church this week (that would be Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium). But what you really want to know is, how good is he at ping pong? According to one Reddit poster, "He won his first round, but lost to the owner his 2nd. He was pretty good, but the guys that play on tournament night are serious about it." (That picture is a must-see. Did anyone else first pass him over as being a middle-aged woman?)

— Sound Table appears to be another place to check out the celebs - Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Zooey Deschanel have been there recently, along with Richard Ayoade (from the British "IT Crowd," and my personal favorite, "Garth Merenghi's Darkplace").

Justin Bieber was in Atlanta this past week, calling it "his second home" (shucks). One reason the Biebs loves ATL? He says people leave him alone (that's Southern Hospitality for ya!)

— It's a bird! It's a plane! It's … a movie set hiding inside of Costco!

Now for the filming updates:

Parental Guidance is still filming around the First Baptist Church on Peachford Road in Dunwoody (they've also been filming at a local farmhouse) [via @Concepts2Assets]

— The A&E series "Coma" is filming at the Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale.

— When Ben Stiller isn't partying and ping ponging, his movie Neighborhood Watch has been filming an orgy in studio (at the old Lakewood Fairgrounds). I don't make the news, I just report it! Related (?) Tuesday they were at BJ’s in Norcross.

— Keep an eye out for the Denzel pic Flight, which is still filming in Downtown (and co-staring John Goodman and William H. Macy).

— "America's Most Wanted" is also filming a special show with some U.S. Marshals this week in our fair city.

In other news:

— Norcross tries to keep residence and film crews happy with a new filming ordinance.

— Support Atlanta filmmaking by taking a look at the first trailer for The Three Stooges, directed by the Farrelly Brothers and starring Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, and Chris Diamantopoulos as Curly, Moe, and Larry." ATLwood friend Matt Goldberg says of it, "It looks awful, but in a fascinating way. "

— Local Talent Alert: Former NFL player Marcus Pollard and his wife Amani, who hail from Pine Mountain, GA, have advanced to the finale of the "Amazing Race" on CBS. (Hat-tip to my hometown newspaper for this one!)

— Last but most certainly not least, setting an amazing example: "12-year-old actress Bailee Madison (filming Parental Guidance) raised $1K for childhood cancer research [Sunday] at the 4Seasons!"

Have any tips? Sightings? Encounters? Filming news? Drop me a line: ATLwood@cln.com or send me a tweet @FlossyAlli on Twitter (don't forget to use the hashtag #ATLwood)!
