Portman the younger, whose grandfather is the famed architect who helped build Peachtree Center, Hyatt Regency, and AmericasMart (and who recently had a street renamed after him), was accosted at a parking garage late last night. Jeffrey Portman, a Georgia Tech student, and a companion were robbed of suitcases, a purse, a wallet, and their phones.

As a relative newcomer, one who bikes often around the campus, I'm trying to figure out if these GTech-area incidents I'm reading about recently are indicative of a crime problem there. I gotta say, it's certainly seemed very safe when I've been on or near campus, no matter the hour.
