This morning ArtsCriticATL.com co-founder and lead critic Cathy Fox announced the appointment of Scott Freeman as deputy editor of the local site. Freeman is a longtime Atlanta journalist who was a senior editor at Creative Loafing from 2006-2008 and who also wrote the two part series "The triumph and tragedy of the Cabbagetown sound," an oral history of Cabbagetown's early ’90s music scene that was part of CL's 2010 music issue that took first place in the Association of Alternative Newsmedia Awards in 2011. Freeman is the author of four books, including Midnight Riders: The Story of the Allman Brothers Band, and according to Fox "Under [Freeman's] aegis, ArtsCriticATL’s coverage will grow to encompass Atlanta’s lively popular music scene. Freeman will also oversee coverage of theater, film, books and dance and help implement additional changes that are in the offing."
