7 Stages raises roof, reschedules 'Dracula,' 'Fat Boy'

SEE YOU LATER, SUCKER: 7 Stages bumps Dracula
Thanks to funding by The Lettie Pate Evans Foundation and The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta's Grants to Green program, 7 Stages plans to install a new roof and HVAC system this spring. In order to accomodate the construction projects, however, the Little Five Points playhouse must bump Ted Castellanos' Fat Boy and the Little Five Points Rock Star Orchestra's Dracula to the 2012-2013 season. The press release quotes artistic director Del Hamilton, who says, "These renovations are much needed and well overdue. We are a theatre, we want to produce shows, not build roofs. But we realize these facility improvements will only help us grow as an organization.”

Prior to the renovation, 7 Stages will still produce the world premiere of Pamela Turner and Russell Blackmon's Hidden Man, a biographical play about religious folk artist Howard Finster and gay atheist Robert Sherer. The co-production with University of Georgia will run in Athens February 23- March 4 and at 7 Stages March 8-25.

And on the plus side, Halloween would seem an ideal time for Dracula: The Rock Opera.
