I stopped by Toscano & Sons to get a sandwich at lunch today and ran into Atlanta puppeteer Michael Haverty. He informed me that his edgy, eponymous puppetry company, Haverty Marionettes, has become a new organization called The Object Group. Haverty said that he wanted to shift the organization's focus to ensemble-created work and expressed an interest in creating more interactive shows outside traditional theater spaces.

The company's first performance will take place Jan. 27 and 28 as part of the Off the Edge festival of dance-related events. The Object Group also will be touring with Haverty's 2011 show The Colour of Her Dreams, an avant-garde, personal exploration of his mother's mental illness through the prism of Lewis Carroll.
