— John Travolta is in town, and has been spotted in Buckhead at The Palm - not surprising, given that ...
— Robert DeNiro and John Travolta are set to begin filming the suspense movie Killing Season this week in Rabun County at Tallulah Gorge State Park and Black Rock Mountain State Park (site of filming for Deliverance which we will never recover from as a state … and is one of the big reasons they're filming there again, apparently. Does anyone hear a banjo? Edit: and for those who are confused - yes, Rabun County, I am ON YOUR SIDE HERE ...). The film crew will move to other locations around the state for the next month.
— Last weekend, our Falcon QB Matt Ryan ate at STK Atlanta and bought shots for everyone. I have so many bitter comments to make as a Falcon fan, but, hey! Shots!
— Queen Latifah's "Single Ladies" was filming at the intersection of Piedmont Rd. and Lenox Rd. on Tuesday. The show is also looking for "formally attired extras" for an upcoming scene. They already employ some good looking people … like telenovla favorite William Levy (hola …).
— Chef Sam Talbot (remember him? The fan favorite from "Top Chef" Season 2? It was the only season I watched. Ilan did not deserve to win. #TeamSam) was … where was I? Right, he was at Richard Blais' flip burger boutique filming with Sanjay Gupta on Tuesday, after which he was the Cook's Warehouse on Piedmont signing copies of his new book. Did anybody attend?
— According to my hometown newspaper, Abraham Lincoln Versus Zombies will begin filming January 28, in Savannah, and will be there until mid-February. Doesn't it sound a bit like "The Walking Dead" meets "Hell On Wheels?"
— Ok, this is a bit of a stretch, but former Atlanta resident and puppeteer Peter Linz has been nominated for an Oscar-by-proxy: he is the voice of Walter from The Muppets, from which the (fantastic) song "Man or Muppet" received a nod (and hopefully a win!).
— It appears there is to be a spin-off of "Love & Hip Hop" to take place in the ATL, but so far "star power" seems dubious …
— Finally, mark your calendars! Georgia-filmed "Vampire Diaries" is back Feb. 2!

Matty Ice buys shots for everybody at a trendy steak house? The picture that popped into my head is him reading the defense wrong, the play falling apart, and him taking a monster sack from behind. *sigh*
Geez Allison... paint with a broad brush much? Have you ever been to Rabun County and Tallulah Gorge? Sure it is rural, but it is beautiful beyond belief. Approximately, 60% of the land is in National Forests and State Parks. And the County ranks 6th in the state for number of same sex couples. Considering that includes the counties surrounding Atlanta, Savannah and other bigger cities, that seems pretty impressive.
I'll tell you what, I will not assume that everyone in East Atlanta is a skinny jeans wearing, unemployed, graffiti artist if you will not assume that everyone in Rabun County wants to screw you like a pig. Deal?
Midtowner no no no, you took the opposite of my point! I hate that everyone associates Georgia with "Deliverance" and assumes things are ACTUALLY like that (and yeah, a lot of people do). I love this darn state. I'm actually riled up over the fact that that didn't come through. My fault for trying to insert a little humor I guess :P
I am amused at the way people in Atlanta and it's surroundings are so desperate to pretend that 'ATL' is a place anybody gives a rat's ass about. It isn't. It is not and never I'll be a New York or LA or Chicago or even a Denver or Phoenix for that matter - the place just SUCKS. It's landlocked, it's ugly. It's got horrible traffic, it's full of religious zealots, it's DANGEROUS, it has no character and no potential.
Give it up.
citaq - don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way back to one of those Shangri-las.
"no character and no potential."
Stop talking about yourself.
