First Slice 2/1/12: Newt loses Florida, still won't go away

Posted by Gwynedd Stuart on Wed, Feb 1, 2012 at 8:41 AM

1. Following a decisive Mittens Romney win in Florida, Newt Gingrich told supporters and journalists (HuffPo says there were more journalists gathered to hear him speak than supporters), "It is now clear that this will be a two-person race between the conservative leader, Newt Gingrich, and the Massachusetts moderate, and the voters of Florida made that clear." OK, so he lost. But he still kind of won because he beat other losers? For anyone who thought Gingrich might be discouraged by the loss, rest assured that isn't the case: "I just want to reassure everyone, we are going to contest every place and we are going to win and we will be in Tampa as the nominee in August,"

2. For those interested in living vicariously through teenagers with athletic prowess and ostensibly bright futures, it's signing day.

3. Researchers at U.C. Berkeley might have figured out how to read people's minds. Sorry, but I'm pretty sure this guy beat you to it.

Will Gingrich ever realize that he is a flawed messenger with a flawed message?

Gingrich "will take his wealth honor and personal dignity" all the way to the white house! No one cares about him; He is an egomaniac loser. I hope he goes broke he won't ever be back on k street. Crazy street maybe!

I sure as heck hope so! I got to find me a PAC to promote crossover voting by Dems for whoever is in 2nd place in the Republican Race!

And actually would dragging out the Republican campaign cause enough money to be spent by both campaigns to create jobs and stimulate the economy?

As a good American shouldn't we support the economy by getting all dems to cross over and vote in the Republican Primary for the guy in 2nd?

Perhaps I can get the Chamber to fund me...after all if they get more Dems out to the polls for the primary their TIA stands a better chance of passing..... Geeez maybe I should be a republican.
