Mashup of Atlanta police chatter and ambient music will help you survive work day

Posted by Thomas Wheatley on Mon, Feb 6, 2012 at 10:15 AM

OK, maybe not for everybody, but some folks.

"You are listing to," a website that merges different cities' police scanners and ambient music, has finally added Atlanta to its list of options. The result is quite hypnotic and, oddly enough, pretty soothing. (That is, provided you don't pay too much attention to what the dispatchers are discussing.) According to the audio player, the scanner you're hearing includes the Atlanta Police Department's Zones 2 and 5 — that's north Atlanta, Midtown and downtown — and Atlanta Fire and Rescue's frequencies.

If you're one of those folks who really enjoys Michael Mann films which feature police helicopters hovering over urban landscapes — options include Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Baltimore, and many others — then you'll probably enjoy the site.

Just Zones 2 and 5? Man, those are boring. We need the southside in here for some real entertainment.

Put a soundtrack to this, oh...no cops. Maybe you can track these predators down?
