Monica Pearson, veteran anchor for Channel 2 Action News, announced her plans to retire at the end of July after 37 years with the station. Her last day anchoring the 4 and 6 p.m. news will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
“Wow!” said Pearson. “Thirty-seven years is a long time to have gone by so quickly. I am thankful for this job every day and for the supreme good fortune to have been allowed to pursue my life’s calling in such an honorable place as Channel 2. It’s my home away from home and this team of journalists is my family. Believe me when I say, I’m deeply honored to have served the viewers and this community in which we all make our home.”

Repeat daily until July 25, when Jovita Moore takes over for our Monica.

Monica Kaufman is Atlanta's best diva http://bit.ly/xBOHbr
She's good people, and has defined the city's brand (in a good way) in a way that no ad campaign ever did.
WSB is the biggest embarrassment to TV news that I have ever seen in my life. You'd think we lived in a goddamn hellhole considering they devote virtually their entire newscasts to crime stories. If that isn't bad enough, many of their stories reek of conservative propaganda, especially all their 'Government Sucks and is Incompetent' pieces. Not all Monica's fault but that station is an embarrassment to serious TV journalism.
