The fine for smoking in Marietta parks is $500

Cobb County is considering banning smoking in all of its public parks, a thing some people are happy about and others are unhappy about. WSBTV interviewed a random limo driver who had this to say:
"I think you should have that liberty, that freedom at least in the parks ... If people want to smoke, and they can't smoke inside and they can't smoke at the airports, and they want to smoke at a park, that's an airy place."

Alright. Well, a couple of years ago, the city of Marietta passed a ban on smoking in parks. Great. Fine. What's crazy about it, though, is that the fine for violating the ordinance is $500. To put that into perspective, New York City banned smoking in parks early last year. The fine up there? $50.

Cobb County has yet to decide upon a monetary penalty for violators or how the ban would be funded. In the meantime, definitely don't get caught smoking in Marietta.
