Last September, EUE/Screen Gems COO Chris Cooney, with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed at his side, announced plans for a second soundstage at the Lakewood Studio Lot. Today Cooney, along with Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Motion Picture Association of America, announced the opening of Studio 6 at the Atlanta Press Club.

Studio 6 comprises 30,000 square feet with "40 feet to the grid, a desirable feature for television and movie productions wanting studio space to accommodate two-story television sets or productions needing extensive floor-to-ceiling clearance for large sets," said EUE/Screen Gems in a press release.

Screen Gems opened the 37,500-square-foot Stage 5 in April 2011, making the Stage 6 addition the second in less than a year.
