Star Sightings

Trouble with the Curve filmed at Amicalola Lodge in Dawsonville this week. "Trouble With The Curve, stars Clint Eastwood as an aging sports scout who tries to mend fences with his estranged daughter while on a baseball recruiting trip. Amy Adams plays his daughter, while Justin Timberlake plays a rival scout. Last week, Justin and Amy were spotted filming a romantic scene where they stopped and slow danced on the streets of Athens. You can see several more photos of the pair filming at"

Current Filming Updates
A.C.O.D. (starring Jane Lynch, Jessica Alba, Amy Poehler and Adam Scott) was in Decatur this week filming along Clairemont Ave. The crew will be sticking around the air through next week, filming mostly indoors at No. 246 (which will be closed for the shoot).

— Production for the film also took place at the Atlanta Botanical Georgia. To quote @AJCBuzz: "Hope they brought Claritin!"

— "Teen Wolf" has been filming in Castleberry Hills, and to the rumor that almost every dancer from Swinging Richards has made an appearance on the show so far I say … tell me more!

— Check out this 11 Alive piece on how a new NBC pilot's production has taken over a neighborhood.

— Some mysterious filming news this week: signs for filming outside of the High Museum (no idea about that one), plus Paul Deen and a camera crew spotted at the Atlanta History Center Thursday. And the most cryptic info yet from Mythbuster Grant Imahara (‪@grantimahara‬), "In Atlanta filming a secret project where I'm being painted blue."

— FYI: West Peachtree Street between 5th & 6th will be closed Friday until 11pm for filming of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" [via @MidtownPatch].

— "Royal Pains" is currently filming in St. Marys’ at the Howard Gilman Memorial Waterfront Park. Lots of additional info about the shoot can be found here.

— Lifetime's "Steel Magnolias" adaptation has cast Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad and Jill Scott. The TV movie will start filming in town in April.

—  Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy will be in town soon for filming, along with Harrison Ford for two new movies coming up.

Location Scouting

— This past Wednesday I had the privilege of attending the first "Walking Dead" filming locations tour, hosted by Atlanta Movie Tours. We walked where zombies staggered and our heroes fought them off, and then travelled to see some of the other set locales around town, such as the Mitchell St. bridge, the Goat Farm, the Atlanta Mission and Cobb Energy Center (a.k.a. "The CDC"), though sadly not the quarry thanks to J.J. Abrams and his new pilot (though that locale WILL be on upcoming tours). Along the way we learned some pretty interesting insider info from extras on the show, including how they prep for being a zombie (it was actually kind of terrifying to see them "transform"). If you're a die-hard fan (pun?) of the show definitely check 'em out! (More info plus pictures, including a picture of me taking a picture). #Meta

Casting Calls

— MTV’s “The Real World” is set to open a casting call for Season 28 here in Atlanta (casting in Atlanta, not filming in Atlanta … jerks). It will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 31 at Publik Draft House, 654 Peachtree St.

— "A feature film about the the life of baseball hall of famer and legend Jackie Robinson is currently underway. The biopic will portray the life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey. Catrett Locke Casting has been assigned to cast about 1,000 extras for the film. The feature is tentatively titled 42, and will star Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman."
