On February 26, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Fla. Zimmerman told a 911 operator that he saw someone who looked suspicious and, despite being told not to pursue Trayvon, he did so anyways. Witnesses reportedly heard a scream followed by a gun shot.

Yesterday, thousands of people gathered outside the Georgia Capitol in downtown Atlanta to remember Trayvon Martin and protest Florida law enforcement authorities for allowing Zimmerman to continue to walk free. The Gold Dome rally was one of the many that took place for the teenager across the country.
