State Rep. Kathy Ashe won't seek another term

State Rep. Kathy Ashe
  • House Communications Office
  • State Rep. Kathy Ashe
The Atlanta Democrat who's served nearly 21 years in the Gold Dome (nearly half of which as a Republican) representing a diverse district that includes the Prado, Midtown, downtown, and Pittsburgh, is blaming the Gold Dome's "polarizing political situation" for her decision to not seek another term.

But as Jim Galloway, who posted Ashe's letter to constituents, correctly notes, Ashe was one of the few Democrats whose district wasn't paired with another progressive lawmaker during last summer's drawing of political maps by Republicans.

Start placing bets on who might throw their hat in the race to replace her and represent the district. Here's a map if you're wondering whether you're eligible.
