First Slice 6/3/12: There is no zombie apocalypse (yet), says CDC

Behold, the diverging diamond interchange!
  • Perimeter CID
  • Behold, the diverging diamond interchange!
1. The state's first "diverging diamond interchange" — which apparently is not some sort of transaction between World of Warcraft characters — will open tomorrow at Ashford Dunwoody Road. Start expecting local TV stations' stories about confused motorists... right now!

2. The city this week will consider giving Park Atlanta, the private company that enforces on-street parking throughout this wonderful hamlet we call home, the ability to raise fines. Start shaking your fists right... now!

3. And finally: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention actually said to reporters wondering if recent headline-grabbing acts of cannibalism are signs of a "zombie apocalypse" that the federal agency "does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms)." Unfortunately the CDC didn't use the media opportunity to consider other reasons behind the incidences, such as mental health illnesses. Start sighing... right now!
