Mustachioed hobby shop manager wants Gold Dome seat

Kevin Big Kev Westphal
Meet Kevin "Big Kev" Westphal. The longtime Cobb County resident, Hobbytown U.S.A. manager, and Democrat wants to unseat state Rep. John Carson, R-Marietta. We at first thought he was a time-traveling saloon keeper from the Wild West until we noticed this gent had a firm grasp on the sad state of affairs under the Gold Dome:

After seeing the Republican legislature pander to its base and forego tackling the real challenges that face Georgians, Westphal made the decision to step up and give voters in the 46th district a candidate that understands the everyday Georgian.

"I have called Cobb home for many years, and I have seen my county and my state fall victim to a party that cares more about the wishes of a handful of partisans and insiders more than real policies that affect my neighbors" says Westphal. "Right now, Atlanta and its outlying metro region is being stalled by folks who care more about their own reelection than keeping Georgia ahead of the curve. We are quickly losing ground to cities like Charlotte who have invested in infrastructure and education, and are attracting new businesses and tourism opportunities that once would have been granted to Atlanta. Georgia needs real transportation solutions, infrastructure improvements, and education policies that will reinstall Georgia as the jewel of the South".

According to his online bio, Westphal is an "avid sportsman who enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking and canoeing, as well as fencing, archery and other shooting sports." For the last 10 years he's served as parliamentarian in the Young Democrats of Georgia. Like any good politician, Westphal knows to play to his strengths. Might we show you his logo?
