Two Atlanta graffiti artists arrested last year after the City of Atlanta's controversial Graffiti Task Force kicked into full swing pleaded guilty to multiple counts earlier this week in municipal court.

Christopher "Vomet" Smith, 29, and Douglas "Beav" Jones, 19, both entered guilty pleas on four counts each related to their artistic discrepancies.

Both received six months probation, fines ranging between $300-$500 (plus court costs), and restitution of $3,550 and $5,650, respectively.

Smith, or Vomet, if you prefer, also picked up 50 hours of community service to be carried out in Old Fourth Ward, where taggers had some local residents up in arms in years past (and, judging by the present proliferation of tags, probably still do).

The Atlanta Police Department applauded the admissions, saying it capped "months of hard work and investigation by the APD's Graffiti Abatement Officer Ari Bleifeld."

"Graffiti is a blight on our communities, allowing the perception of an un-policed and un-caring city - which we know is not the case," Deputy Chief Renee Propes, commander of the APD's Community Services Division, said in a release. "The Atlanta Police Department is pleased to be part of the effort to clean up our city."

Ironically, some well-known and former graffiti artists, including Alex "Hense" Brewer, have been commissioned by the city to complete murals on public property. Hense netted $4,000 from the city for work on the Auburn Ave. underpass.

A million dollar civil suit against more than two dozens street artists is still ongoing - including Vomet, Greg Mike of ABV and a number that have remained nameless.
