News CL goes 2-for-2, wins AltWeekly Awards for photography and writing

Late Friday it was announced by the Association of Alternative Newsmedia that Creative Loafing won first place in two AltWeekly Awards categories. The photo desk (Photo Editor Joeff Davis, Asst. Photo Editor Dustin Chambers, as well as James Camp and Evey Wilson) took first place for these submissions. Also, the great Wyatt Williams, who last month left CL to become an assistant food editor at Atlanta magazine, won first place in the "Arts Feature" category for his beautifully written profile of Kathryn Stockett, "Life in the Belle Jar." We're very proud to have published these works, and we're grateful that our peers recognized their excellence.

Other items of note: our until-last-month sister paper Chicago Reader, helmed by former CL editor Mara Shalhoup, was honored five times (ranging from first place to honorable mention), and our still-sister paper Washington City Paper was honored four times.
